10 pc risk premium makes Romania attractive for investors
Romania's risk premium dropped by approximately 10 percent to 267 base points since the start of the year, the lowest level in the last 9 months, Money.ro informs, quoting REUTERS. Analysts point to an improvement in Romania's economy as the cause behind this development. Romania's risk premium continues to drop, almost in tandem with the RON's appreciation trend.
"It seems we're a bit out of the woods and so if we don't have a lot of question marks I believe we are an attractive country investment-wise", analyst Adrian MITROI stated. Nevertheless, Romania's risk premium is significantly higher when compared to its March 2010 level. Back then, the CDS had dropped below 190 base points. "We continue to be at Europe's periphery, with question marks concerning deficit sustainability, economic growth, coming out of recession, at least from a technical point of view", MITROI added. Middle East tensions, the price of oil and the tragedy in Japan are other events that have garnered investors' attention and that affect Romania's CDS.
