ASIROM grows with 21% in the first nine months
 ASIROM's underwritings for the first three quarters were of RON 573.85 million (EUR 157.74 million), a growth of 21% in comparison with the same period of last year. At the same time, the claims paid by the company between January-September increased by 27%, to RON 338 million, from which RON 279 million were registered in the non-life segment.
ASIROM's non-life gross written premiums rose at RON 505.4 million, 23.4% more than the first three quarters of last year. This represents 72.4% from the income and expenses budget established by the company for 2008. The claims on the non-life segment grew with 28.4% and represent 68.6% from the budgeted claims expenses.
At the same time, life insurance had underwritings of RON 68.44 million, growing only 3.5% as compared to the same period of 2007 and a 56.8% share from the total income estimated on this insurance class. The life paid claims with 20.8%, meaning almost 73% from ASIROM's established budget.
In the first nine months, voluntary general insurance underwritings, other than the personal ones, where the majority average is held by CASCO, rose at about RON 300 million, while for the voluntary person general insurance RON 5.6 million have been made from underwritings. The mandatory general insurance class - MTPL - totalized an underwriting income of RON 201.2 million.
ASIROM is one of the Romanian companies which are part of the Austrian VIENNA Insurance Group and they accomplished together a growth of over 34% in the underwritings volume in Q3/2008, compared to Q3/2007.
VIG is present in Romania through the companies OMNIASIG, OMNIASIG Life and ASIROM.
Also, starting with September, VIG bought the majority stakes in BCR Asigurari and BCR Life from ERSTE Bank's Romanian subsidiary, the Commercial Romanian Bank.
