Assets administered by AVIVA are rising 21% in first half
 AVIVA life insurance company registered in the first six months of the year an increase in assets under management of 21.4%, compared to the end of 2009, up to the amount of RON 600 million.
Also, income from the company's gross written premiums has registered a 17% decrease, to RON 40 million. Three causes were at the basis of this result, according to Mihai POPESCU, CEO, AVIVA Romania: the evolution of bancassurance segment, the termination of policies and the adjustment of the way of calculation of annualized premiums. Sales were evenly distributed between the protection products and those with savings component - unit-linked.
However, the sums insured for policies concluded in 2010 and, implicitly, the average premiums increased, a sign that, despite declining revenues of the population, there has been an increase in the population's awareness of the need for protection.
"In 2010, the Romanians continued to reassess the financial needs and expenses. This is reflected by the fact that AVIVA sales through direct sales force increased in the first half. We are glad that individual responsibility regarding life and family is growing, protection earning an essential place in the priority list", said Mihai POPESCU.
Another obvious indicator of the increased importance of financial protection is the ascending trend of customers opting for medical clauses. In this context, since August this year, AVIVA has doubled the maximum benefits offered both for hospital and for surgery.
AVIVA Asigurari de Viata has been operating in Romania since 2000, with a portfolio of over 50,000 customers (excluding life credit type insurance). The company has an ongoing operation of share capital increase with EUR 7 million (about RON 30 million).
Mihai POPESCU took over AVIVA in early June this year.
