BCR Asigurari de Viata, the only increase in Top 10 life
Life insurance companies in Top 10 have obtained in the first half of this year a negative evolution lower than market average (-19%, compared to -8.28% - nominal evolution in EUR), according to INSURANCE Profile Specialty Review.
The first three positions in top remain unchanged, but the market share difference between ING and AIG Life grew, the one that came in second having lost about 3.5 percentage points. In contrast, BCR Asigurari de Viata, placed third, has increased the market share up to 10.74%, according to INSURANCE Profile. This company has had the most spectacular evolution, and it is the only one in Top 10 Life who finished the first semester with growth (+16.6%).
ASIROM climbs up two positions, ALLIANZ-TIRIAC stays in fifth, and AVIVA won a place, while ASIBAN lost almost three percentage points of the market share achieved at the end of the first half of 2008 and it went down to the ninth place. GENERALI climbed two positions, up to seven, and won 0.5 percentage points in market share, up to 5.63%, while GRAWE maintains itself on the eighth place, position also occupied after the first half of 2008.
OMNIASIG Life left the top this year, going down to 12 and leaving the tenth position to EUREKO, former INTERAMERICAN.
Regarding the degree of concentration of the life insurance market, the first ten companies have brought nearly 92.6% of the underwritings, down from last year, when Top 10 life insurers cumulated 95.26% of the total volume of gross written premiums.
