Belorussian insurers have increased premiums by 18% in 2009
Belorussian insurance companies have underwrote gross premiums of
approximately EUR 280 million in 2009, an increase by 18.5% compared to
2008, according to Belorussian Ministry of Finance.
Voluntary insurance classes totalized premiums of EUR 130 million, holding a market share of about 46,5% (44% in 2008). Concerning the mandatory insurance, companies collected premiums up by 13,3%, representing EUR 150 million and a market share of 53,5% (56% in 2008).
At the same time, insurance claims paid by the insurers rose by 36,8% and totalized EUR 159 million, while claims ratio climbed at 56,6% compared to 49% in the previous year.
