Signs of recovery for the Bulgarian market

The latest statistics indicate for the second quarter of this year a 2 percentage points increase of the Bulgarian economy, showing strong signs of recovery after three years of economic crisis. Also, the Cabinet in Sofia forecasts an economic growth of 3.6 percent for the end of the year. The insurance market "did not wait too long" for signs of consolidation, after six months of 2011 increasing at the same pace with the economy: +0.8%, reaching EUR 417.6 million. more...

The premiums of SOGAZ Group have increased by 19%, to EUR 1.57 billion, in 1H/2011

Gross written premiums of insurance companies members of SOGAZ, in the first six months of 2011, totaled RUB 65.64 billion (EUR 1.57 billion), up by 19% compared to the similar period of 2010. The total volume of claims paid by the entire group has reached RUB 41.8 billion (EUR 1 billion). more...

According to data published on the official site of Motor Insurers Bureau, in the first half of 2011, insurance companies in Armenia have paid, on the MTPL policy segment, claims in the amount of AMD 1.9 billion (EUR 3.61 million) and 9,574 claims files have been solved. more...

Uzbekistan: Market capitalization continues during 2012-2014

In accordance with legislative changes regarding the amendment of the requirements related to the minimum level of share capital of insurers, within three years, starting July 1st, 2012 and until July 1st, 2014, insurance companies in Uzbekistan must increase their share capital as follows:
•    for general insurance activity - to EUR 1.125 million,
•    for life insurance activity - to EUR 1.5 million,
•    for mandatory insurance activity - to EUR 2.25 million,
•    for exclusive reinsurance activity - to EUR 5 million.

Bulgaria: Insurers underwritings fell by 1.5% in 1Q/2011

Gross premiums underwritten by insurance companies in the first three months of this year totaled EUR 201.90 million, down by 1.5% compared to the same period in 2010, and claims paid by Bulgarian insurers in this period amounted to nearly EUR 93 million, according to the report of the local supervisory authority. more...

EUR 65 million profit for ALLIANZ in CEE

The total value of gross written premiums of ALLIANZ in Central and Eastern Europe has slightly exceeded the EUR 1 billion level, compared to EUR 1.115 billion in the first quarter of last year. The 5% decrease is largely attributed to the life and health insurance segment, which benefited last year from the effects of growth exhibited by some of the markets. Russia: 18.1% insurance market growth in 1Q/2011

Insurance companies in Russia have underwritten in the first quarter of this year gross premiums worth EUR 7.53 billion, 18.1% more than in the same period in 2010. Meanwhile, claims paid by Russian insurers in the first three months amounted to EUR 4.78 billion, up by 11.3% compared with 1Q/2010, according to the report of the local supervisory authority. more...

Croatian insurance market - down by 0.7% in the first four months of 2011

The gross underwritten premiums of the 26 operating companies on the Croatian market, during January - April of 2011, went down by 0.7%, to EUR 447.40 million, in comparison with the same period of 2010 (EUR 450.70 million). Altogether, paid claims by the insurance companies accounted for EUR 195.99 million, 2.5% more when comparing to the results of the first four months belonging to 2010, when the level of indemnities was EUR 191.06 million, according to the official data published by the Insurance Bureau of Croatia (HUO). more...

Kazakhstan: Underwritings have increased by 19%, to EUR 329 million, in the first four months of 2011

In the first four months of the current year, insurance companies in Kazakhstan have underwritten gross premiums worth EUR 328.88 million, up by 19% compared to the same period in 2010, when premiums had totaled EUR 276.39 million. Also, claims paid by insurers amounted to EUR 54.52 million, 39.2% more than in the first four months of 2010 (EUR 39.15 million), according to official data published by the Financial Markets Supervisory Commission. more...
