percentage points increase of the Bulgarian economy, showing strong
signs of recovery after three years of economic crisis. Also, the

first six months of 2011, totaled RUB 65.64 billion (EUR 1.57 billion),
up by 19% compared to the similar period of 2010. The total volume of

The total value of gross written premiums of ALLIANZ in Central and
Eastern Europe has slightly exceeded the EUR 1 billion level, compared
to EUR 1.115 billion in the first quarter of last year. The 5% decrease
is largely attributed to the life and health insurance segment, which
benefited last year from the effects of growth exhibited by some of the

The gross underwritten premiums of the 26 operating companies on the Croatian market, during January - April of 2011, went down by 0.7%, to EUR 447.40 million, in comparison with the same period of 2010 (EUR 450.70 million). In the first four months of the current year, insurance companies in
Kazakhstan have underwritten gross premiums worth EUR 328.88 million, up
by 19% compared to the same period in 2010, when premiums had totaled

In the first quarter of 2011, the new-business volume registered by the Dutch group AEGON on the life insurance segment was EUR 501 million with higher sales in the New markets (Central and Eastern European and Asia) and the Netherlands, offset by less favorable evolutions in the UK. 25 years since the disaster in Chernobyl, the threat of a radioactive contamination has not vanished. The huge concrete shelter, 29,000 tones and 110 meters high that covered the damaged nuclear reactor and the 200 tone of radioactive fuel, has started to crack and is currently in danger of collapsing.
