Claims for body injuries will have the largest share in the amount of claims
"In a few years, the claims for body injuries will have the largest share in the value of claims paid by insurers, thus MTPL insurance premiums must suffer increases", said Liviu STOICESCU, President of Motor Insurers Bureau in Romania, at the National Motor Insurance Conference.
"On MTPL we have the lowest rates possible, although we, as a country, have an obligation to raise the compensation limits to EUR 1 million for material damage and to EUR 5 million for body injuries until 2012. Requests for claims for body injuries have increased extremelly, and for two years the jurisprudence for high indemnizations on this segment is being built, in a negative direction. Thus, we have small premiums on MTPL to cover decent claims, supported by quotations, bills etc., but on body injuries and moral claims, we are at the discretion of the courts", added Liviu STOICESCU.
