EXCLUSIVE: EUR 375 million - insurance mediation market in first half
Up to EUR 375 million (RON 1.55 billion) amounted the brokerage insurance market in the first six months of this year - show the estimates of INSURANCE Profile Specialty Review. Compared to the correspondent period of the previous year, the insurance brokerage market decreased in EUR by 3.85% (editor's note: In H1/2009, brokers mediated insurance premiums totaling EUR 390 million).
Also, brokerage market generated 35.9% of the total insurance market (editor's note: According to INSURANCE Profile, in H1/2010, the insurance market amounted to RON 4.3 billion, the equivalent of EUR 1.04 billion).
On insurance classes, the businesses of insurance brokers have been generated in a 4.8% share by life insurance, respectively 95.2% - by general insurance.
In general insurance classes, over 80% of businesses were represented by motor policies (Motor Hull and MTPL), distributed as follows: - 49% - Motor Hull insurance (EUR 185 million); - 31% - MTPL insurance (EUR 116 million).
Other classes that had a notable contribution to the consolidated portfolio of the market were property insurance (fire and allied perils and damage to property), as it accounted for a share of 9.5% (EUR 35.8 million), and civil liability - 2.5%, equivalent to EUR 9.8 million.
