Ionel DIMA: The 5% share of the insured who received malus will grow
"The malus estimated so far, up to 5%, will gain ground in the coming years. It is too early and hasty to draw conclusions now, for the bonus-malus system was implemented on January 1, for only 2 months, just like the electronic issuance of the MTPL policies", said Ionel DIMA, Vicepresident of the AVUS Group, moderator of the National Motor Insurance Conference.
"Introduction of the amicable report on July 1st, 2009, caused many discussions, the ISC had a hesitation regarding how this system would operate, but we observe that after six months the procedure works normally, and drivers have more and more discipline. Also, the introduction of the bonus-malus presents an advantage for most of the insured, since, according to ISC estimates, 90% of them benefit of bonus and only 10% of malus", said Angela TONCESCU, President of ISC, in the Fourth Edition of the National Motor Insurance Conference.
Also, according to the ISC President, the electronic issuance has not encountered any problems and managed to counter the problems faced by MTPL insurers, such as, for example, issuing policies on the street and in other inappropriate places.
"ISC has intervened and modified the MTPL rule of determining the value of claims owned by insurance companies, so that the insured can receive money from the insurer before making the necessary repairs. We also reduced the period for the payment of the claim from 15 days to 10 days", added Angela TONCESCU.
