Radu MUSTATEA, President of ASTRA Asigurari, the leading insurer on the Romanian market, is stepping down, the company said on Monday in a press release. The management of the company will be taken over by Alexander ADAMESCU, currently Vice President of the Supervisory Board of ASTRA. Radu MUSTATEA decided not to renew his term mandate of five years ending at the beginning of 2012, in order to pursue some personal projects.
"I thank ASTRA Asigurari's team for the support and trust they invested in all these difficult and great years. I'm talking about this unique development path ASTRA had on the Romanian insurance market, made possible along with the company's shareholders and team.
I believe this is the right moment to get involved in some personal projects that I've been considering for some time now and that demand 100 per cent of my efforts" MUSTATEA stated.
"I thank Radu MUSTATEA for the performances we gained together and I respect his desire to step down from his position. I am certain that he will enjoy the same success in entrepreneurship", Dan Grigore ADAMESCU, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of ASTRA Insurance said.
Radu MUSTATEA took the lead of ASTRA Asigurari as President of the Directorate in 2006. He succeeded a unique performance in the insurance industry in Romania of leading the company on the market's first position despite economic tightening conditions, thereby changing the recession into an opportunity.
With a degree in physics at the University of Bucharest, Radu MUSTATEA began his career in the insurance industry at ARDAF, where he was fast promoted as head of the Bucharest branch.
After leaving ARDAF, Radu MUSTATEA joined the management team of AGI Romania, which he had led since 2002 as General Manager.
