Romania: Allianz-Tiriac launches the first motor insurance product fully dedicated electric cars
Allianz-Tiriac, one of the largest insurers in Romania, has developed the first complete car insurance product (MTPL and MoD insurance), intended for plug-in electric and hybrid cars.
My Electric Car insurance is available in 4 packages and, depending on the package selected, provides coverage for:
o the electric battery in case of accident, fire, theft or accidental damage
o charging equipment: charging cables, wallbox (charger) and adapters can be insured against theft, fire, explosion and accidental damage
o roadside assistance in case of battery discharge: mobile charging, towing, car exchange, transport to the nearest charging station, to continue the journey.
"Electric car owners have very specific needs. Our product meets these requirements and allows them to confidently transition to sustainable vehicles with the right car insurance. At Allianz-Tiriac, we want to help people to be comfortable with the transition to electric vehicles and thus reduce the impact on the environment together", said Marilena Barliga, Director of Market Management and Communication at Allianz-Tiriac.
Insurance dedicated to electric cars can be purchased directly from allianztiriac.ro, in a few minutes, through a simple, intuitive quotation and purchase process, but also through Allianz-Tiriac distribution partners.
Claims can be reported online, at allianztiriac.ro, while through the Claims Tracker service, which can be accessed at any time from a phone, desktop or tablet, customers have access to information and updates 24/7, in real time, about the claim file damage.
Electric and hybrid cars came to represent 20% of the total new cars registrations in Romania. Allianz-Tiriac estimates show that by 2025 the electric car market will grow more than 6 times. At the end of 2021, one in five electric cars was already insured at Allianz-Tiriac.
