Russian insurers reported gross premiums of EUR 25.8 billion in 2010
Insurance companies in Russia underwrote, in the former year, gross premiums valued EUR 25.8 billion, up by 14.5% in comparison with 2009, according to XPRIMM Special Report publications, based on the data supplied by the local supervisory authority. At the same time, profile societies registered claims worth EUR 19 billion, while in 2009 the figure went to EUR 16.9 billion.
On insurance classes, voluntary segment reached EUR 11.3 billion, 16.8% more than former results, while the claims on this segment rose to EUR 5.7 billion, when in 2009 the figure was EUR 5.2 billion.
Also, underwritings on mandatory insurance segment in 2010 rated EUR 14.4 billion, with a 12.7% increase and the claims rose to EUR 13.3 billion.
General insurance hold the most significant share in the total underwritings managed by Russian insurers, this segment gathering 97.8% of the total gross underwritten premiums. From this whole, we tell apart mandatory health insurance - 46.6%; the property segment - 26.7% and individual insurance - 11.7%.
Market leaders in the report period, decreasingly ordered, (exception from the calculation being the mandatory health insurance underwritings), were ROSGOSSTRAKH Group - EUR 2 billion, SOGAZ Group - EUR 1.2 billion, INGOSSTRAKH - EUR 1 billion and RESO Garantia - EUR 0.8 billion.
Life insurance segment was lead by ALICO (EUR 78.9 million), followed by ALFASTRAKHOVANIE Life (EUR 71.5 million) and ROSGOSSTRAKH Life (EUR 62.5 million).
The profile market in Russia, by December the 31st of 2010, had 625 operating insurance companies, according to the data presented by the supervisory authority.
